Welcome FYE Students!
FYE students are required to complete 10 tutoring visits (total) at the Writing Center and/or math Pi Shop.
How to Complete FYE Tutoring Hours at the Writing Center
FYE students can fulfill your tutoring requirement at the Writing Center with any of the following activities:
- Visiting a tutor for an individual tutoring session
- Dropping off a paper for feedback from a tutor
- Attending a workshop
- Completing Achieve online grammar and writing program activities
Tracking FYE Tutoring Hours
- After each tutoring session, you will receive an email "receipt" of your attendance and summary of your work with your tutor. Please keep this email as a record of your attendance.
- Records of completion of Achieve modules in your Achieve gradebook.
- Attendance reports for FYE students are provided to the FYE counselors and English 101 instructors periodically throughout the semester.
- Please make sure to schedule your Writing Center tutoring visits for your FYE requirement throughout the semester. Visiting the Writing Center throughout the semester maximizes the value of your tutoring sessions. If you attempt to schedule unnecessary appointments at the end of the semester simply to fulfill the FYE requirement, the Writing Center may cancel your appointments to provide availability for students who need writing help.
- The final day to complete hours for FYE credit is the last regular Friday of instruction (the Friday before finals week).
