Visual & Media Arts Department
Welcome to the LACC Visual & Media Arts Department
The Visual & Media Arts Department faculty is comprised of working professionals who teach art, art history, photography, and journalism as both a subject and an activity. We recognize the uniqueness of individuals and encourage exploration of their creative talents by emphasizing art experience and potential in a diversity of cultures. We emphasize the relationships among the arts and encourage enrollment in multiple arts disciplines.
Our courses provide a foundation in visual, practical, and theory based knowledge.
The Los Angeles City College Visual & Media Arts Department is committed to offering an extensive program of courses for students whose goals range from a career in fine arts, animation, multimedia, graphic design, gallery and museum work, art history, photography, and journalism to those pursuing personal enrichment. We offer a broad selection of classes in a department that stresses an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach between its disciplines.
Our two-year program aims at providing professional industry-standard, career technical training, while successfully transferring students to the University of California and California State University systems, as well as to private colleges, universities, and art colleges.
