Please join us for a special artist panel to celebrate the VAMA gallery exhibition: Spiritual Nature, a solo show by Michael Massenburg. The panel will be moderated by the exhibition curator, Elizabeth Preger, and feature Alonzo J. Davis, June Edmonds, Amarpal Khanna & Michael Massenburg.

Alonzo J. Davis’ career as an artist spans four decades.  A native of Tuskegee, Alabama, Davis moved with his family to Los Angeles in his early teens.  After acquiring an undergraduate degree at Pepperdine College, he earned an MFA in Printmaking and Design at Otis Art Institute.

June Edmonds was born 1959 in Los Angeles, where she lives and works. Edmonds received her MFA from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, and a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. She also attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and is the recipient of the inaugural 2020 AWARE Prize; and a 2018 City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Grant (COLA).

Amarpal M. Khanna is an arts advocate with over fifteen years’ experience in Arts Education as an administrator, K-12 educator, and in academia.  He has also worked as a professional artist in the worlds of Illustration, Comic Books, and Animation. Dr. Khanna was born in Puerto Rico, to immigrant parents, a Jamaican mother and East Indian father. His family lived in New York, Florida, and Texas before settling in Southern California.

Michael Massenburg was born in San Diego, raised in South Central Los Angeles, and lives in Inglewood. Michael pursued his studies at California State University, Long Beach, and the Otis School of Art and Design. He began his career at the Watts Towers Arts Center, influenced by the Watts Rebellion, the Black Art Movement of the 1960s, and the 1992 Los Angeles Uprising.
