Explore the best of international Illustration!
Los Angeles City College will be exhibiting world-class illustration from “Illustration West 61”, the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles’ annual competition. This competition, held every year since 1961, celebrates the best of California-based illustration as well as illustration from all over the world. SILA is proud to represent established and emerging artists engaged in the exciting field of illustration.
Award categories include: Advertising, Book, Children’s market, Editorial, Entertainment, and more!
Illustration is the art of communicating visually in many different fields; it tells stories, explains concepts, editorializes current events, directs teams of animators and filmmakers, graphically portrays short stories and novels, and shapes the look and feel of games. This is a beloved form of art that helps shape society.
About SILA
Established in 1953, The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles is a non-profit organization with hundreds of members. “SILA’s purpose is to promote interest in the art of illustration, encourage high ethical standards of professionalism in the field, foster camaraderie and support for its members, and collaborate with other professional art organizations for mutual benefit.”
