This Week @ City - September 5, 2023
September 5, 2023,
I hope everyone had a restful three-day weekend.
I want to thank everyone for the assistance you gave in welcoming students back to campus. I am very happy to see so many faces here on campus at LACC. We had a full week of activities for students during Welcome Week. I also want to thank all the staff that worked last Saturday to help students enroll and access services.
Last week, we launched TimelyCare, a virtual health provider, which is providing FREE 24/7 mental health support and basic needs assistance to our students. Students can login at the TimelyCare app or can sign up via timelycare.com/lacitycollege. Please let your students know.
Our Cubby’s Closet is open for the fall semester. The ASG is accepting any donations of gently used clothing, shoes, toys, and luggage, as well as any new undergarments and socks. All donations can be dropped off at the Office of Student Life Monday through Thursday 9:30am to 4:30pm, Friday 8am to 2pm.
Athletics is back in the swing of things for the 2023-24 season. The season got underway Friday, August 25 for our Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, and Men's Soccer teams.
Men's Basketball is set to begin November 10th.
This is our 3rd season for Women's Soccer and Men's Soccer and the 1st season for Women's Volleyball and Men's Basketball. Just in case you missed it the Men's Soccer team made the playoffs last season. We would love to see our LACC family at a game or two this year. You can find all the schedules and results on our athletics website: https://laccathletics.com/landing/index.
or click the "Campus Life" tab on the LACC website and then the "LACC Athletics" tab.
The Los Angeles City College Foundation has been awarded grants totaling $65,000 from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and its charitable trust to provide fellowships to Cinema/TV and Journalism students and production mini grants to fund student projects.
