  • General assist with overall departmental tasks including equipment management and inventory, technical proficiency with video editing, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for asset generation and design layout, creating spreadsheets, hanging and arranging hallway displays, various gallery duties, general student ambassador and support the Summer Animation Bootcamp initiative starting July 16. Job Description:

  • The Student Worker will support the Guardian Scholars office in providing services and resources to current and former foster youth enrolled at LA City College. This role involves office assistance, peer mentoring, event assistance, and outreach efforts to help foster a welcoming and supportive environment for program participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.

  • Provide clerical support including checking-in students, creating flyers, and data entry. 

  • Assist with events, workshops, and outreach activities.

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the values of the Guardian Scholars Program.

  • Serve as a peer mentor and role model to fellow students in the program.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the program coordinator.

  • Work on, and assist students with cranium cafe platform, zoom, and/or CANVAS

  • Provide information regarding the EOPS program, pre-screen and schedule appointments for students using cranium cafe

  • Assist in recruitment activities for CARE/EOPS program

Job Description:

  • Greet and welcome students, faculty, and visitors to the EOPS/NextUP office in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Provide front line assistance by addressing inquiries related to EOPS/NextUP programs, services, and eligibility criteria.

  • Direct students to appropriate resources and departments within the college as needed.

  • Assist in coordinating student appointments with program counselors and advisors.

  • Facilitate student check-ins and manage appointment scheduling using electronic systems.

  • Collect and process required documentation from students applying for EOPS/NextUP programs.

  • Assist in organizing program orientations for new participants.

  • Collaborate with program staff to plan and execute student events, workshops, and information sessions.

  • Serve as a liaison between students and program staff to relay feedback, concerns, and suggestions.

  • Utilize campus resources and online platforms to provide students with real-time updates and information.

  • Answer and make telephone calls professionally.

  • Assist students in completing the necessary forms and applications.

  • Effectively utilize computer equipment to schedule appointments, drop-ins, orientations, field trips, etc.

  • Handling confidential information.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Ability to work for a 1-year period.

  • Preferred: Previous work experience with any LACC department

  • Be willing to work effectively and tactfully with individuals from diverse student populations.

Job Description:

Student Worker general duties include tasks like answering phones, taking messages, filing, photocopying, scanning, pick up mail, post flyers, and data entry. Student workers may assist with mail distribution, preparing documents, and maintaining office supplies. Provide information and assistance to students, faculty, and staff. Assist with various projects as needed, which could include research, event planning, or other tasks.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Both verbal and written communication is essential.

  • Organizational Skills: Being able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively is crucial.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using office software and other relevant tools is often required.
