  • CCCApply is a common application all students must complete in order to receive a student ID number and school email.

  • If you encounter an error message when you check the "No Expiration Date" under the I-94 information section on CCC Apply online application, please uncheck the "No Expiration Date" box and input any future date as an expiration date to move forward with your application submission.

  • When selecting your Citizenship in Open CCCApply, select "STUDENT VISA (F-1)" regardless of your current status.

  • When you see ID ME VERIFICATION, scroll down and click, "Verify Later"

INITIAL STUDENT CHECKLIST 

Students applying from their home country requesting an F-1 visa to study in the United States must complete and submit the following documents:

  1. F-1 Student Supplemental Application Form (fillable PDF)
  2. LACC International Student Agreement Form
  3. Proof of Funds - An estimated yearly expense is $23,500 U.S. dollars.
    • Current proof of funding must be in the form of a bank letter or a bank statement (with an official signature/seal).
    • All bank verifications should indicate U.S. currency and dated within 6 months of the term start date.
  4. Affidavit of Support Form (If you have a financial sponsor)
  5. Proof of English Proficiency*
  6. Copy of Transcripts or Equivalent, i.e. certificate of completion, diploma, etc. *Students under the age of 18 must provide proof of high school completion.
TRANSFER STUDENT CHECKLIST

Students currently in the United States on an F-1 visa and wish to transfer to Los Angeles City College must submit the following documents:

  1. F-1 Student Supplemental Application Form (fillable PDF)
  2. LACC International Student Agreement Form

  5. Proof of English Proficiency*

  7. Copy of I-20 from current school
  8. Copy of Passport and Visa stamp
  9. Intent to Transfer-In Form
  10. I-94 (if you are applying for Change of Status)

You can satisfy the English Proficiency requirement through one of the following options;

Change to F1 Visa Status

Applicants in the United States on a valid visa may be eligible to apply for a change of status to F-1 international student while remaining in the United States. One of the documents you need to apply for a change of status is an "I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status" from an SEVP-certified school like Los Angeles City College (LACC).

Complete CCC Apply & F1 Supplemental Application

Admitted students will receive an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status (aka: "I-20") from LACC. You need this document to apply for a change of status to F-1 international student.

Pay I-901 Fee

After obtaining an I-20, pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee. Keep a receipt. For more information on the I-901 SEVIS Fee and how to pay it, view Study in the States: Paying the I-901 Fee.

File Form I-539

After receiving an I-20 from LAPC and paying the I-901 Fee, the student can file Form I-539 Application to Extend/Change Non-Immigrant Status through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Part-Time F-1 International Students Application

If you are currently attending a U.S. institution that issued your I-20 form and would like to concurrently enroll at Los Angeles City College as a part-time student, follow the instructions below. Concurrently enrolled students are eligible to apply for full terms (Fall and Spring) and intersessions (Summer and Winter).

Submit Permission Letter

  • Obtain "Permission Letter" from your current school that issued your I-20: the permission letter must include
    • your full name,
    • Student ID number, and
    • specific course name(s) in which you are authorized to enroll.
  • Email your Permission letter to @email or, 
    • (please indicate in the subject line "Part-Time Enrollment).
  • Bring your Permission Letter to International Student Office at Los Angeles City College, located in the Cesar Chavez Building, 109.
